Academic Governance & Covenant

Terms of Service & Institutional Standards

Last Updated: October 9, 2026 | Effective Date: October 9, 2026 | Version 2026.1

Welcome to Makarim International Academy (MIA). By enrolling a student, submitting an admission application, booking a trial class, or accessing our virtual campus, you enter into a binding academic agreement with Makarim International Academy.

Our terms are guided by classical Islamic principles of mutual good faith, clarity, and accountability, ensuring a dignified and safe educational sanctuary for diaspora youth and adult learners across 24+ countries.

1. Enrollment & Guardian Representation

Applications for students under 18 years of age must be submitted exclusively by a parent or authorized legal guardian. By submitting an application, the guardian warrants that:

  • All provided personal, educational, and contact details are truthful and accurate.
  • They have legal custody or guardianship authority to enroll the child in educational instruction.
  • They will provide an appropriate home environment conducive to focused Quranic recitation.

2. Scheduling, Punctuality & Make-Up Sessions

To maintain consistent learning rhythm and respect our scholars' dedicated halaqah schedules:

  • Punctuality: Classes commence strictly at the scheduled time. Instructors remain in the virtual classroom for 15 minutes. If a student does not join within 15 minutes without prior notice, the session is marked as an unexcused absence.
  • Rescheduling Notice: Parents may request to reschedule a 1-on-1 session with at least 12 hours advance notice through the academy coordinator or teacher.
  • Make-Up Sessions: For notified absences, students are granted up to 1 make-up session per calendar month, scheduled based on mutual teacher availability.
  • Teacher Absences: If an instructor is unavoidably absent due to illness or emergency, the academy guarantees a qualified substitute scholar or a full make-up session.

3. Code of Adab (Islamic Etiquette) & Conduct

The transmission of the Quran requires high moral standards and mutual respect:

  • Modest Attire: Both students and teachers must observe modest, respectful attire suitable for Quranic learning during all video sessions.
  • Environment: Lessons must be attended from a quiet, distraction-free room with functioning camera and microphone.
  • Respectful Interaction: We maintain zero tolerance for disrespectful language, harassment, or verbal abuse toward instructors or coordinators.

4. Graduation, Sanad & Certificate Verification

Graduation diplomas and Sanad certifications represent sacred chains of scholarly transmission:

  • Certificates are issued only after comprehensive oral evaluation, minimum 85% attendance, and final review by the Academic Director.
  • Certificates cannot be purchased; they are strictly earned through scholastic merit.
  • Every issued certificate bears a unique verifiable serial code (`MIA-CERT-YYYY-XXXXXX`) registerable on our official verification portal at makariminternationalacademy.com/verify.
  • The Academy reserves the right to revoke or suspend any certificate found to have been obtained through fraudulent means.

5. Tuition Fees, Cancellations & Pausing

Tuition fees are determined by program selection, weekly frequency (3 Days vs 5 Days/Week), and currency of billing. Complete terms regarding billing, pausing, and refunds are outlined in our dedicated Tuition & Refund Policy.

Families may temporarily pause enrollment for up to 30 days during family travel or exams by providing 7 days written notice.
